Bounce House

Our Jog-A-Thon helped pay for our mural as well as two Bouncey Houses. Thanks PTA for organizing such cool events and kid-centered activities this year!

We had a very busy week, including our music concert and a field trip to Horizon Air Industries. We enjoyed discussing our LiD topics and got to see the cockpit of a jet!

New Learning in Depth Topics and a Study of Decomposers

Mr. Dunton visited our class to give two of our new students their new LiD topics. The most important part of Learning in Depth is taking the time to have fun with our topics. Our upcoming portfolio nights, June 2 & 3 will give students the opportunity to share their enthusiasm.

Rowena Plateau Field Trip

We compared our wildflower species from the West Gorge, temperate rain forest zone, to those in the East Gorge. Flowers in this area are adapted to living with less water. Our field trip was sunny and beautiful, despite the crazy wind! Students took the roll of botanists and identified: cow parsnips, monkey flowers (the leaves of which are almost edible!), lupine, poison oak.

Our field trip to Bridal Veil Falls and Buck Creek occurred on a lovely misty day. Wildflower species we identified included: bleeding heart, lupine, blue camas, white camas, sourgrass (oxalis), salmonberry and buttercup.
